The Ops Audit

How much work is in your pipeline right now?

And would three people in your business give the same number? If not, your pipeline lives in inboxes, spreadsheets and someone’s head — and the marketing money feeding it can’t be traced to the jobs it wins.

One place. I’ll make it the only place.

Twenty minutes, no pitch. Its only job is to find out whether an audit is worth your money — and I’ll tell you if it isn’t.

Your tools aren’t the problem. The gaps between them are.

Every service business runs the same six layers: an enquiry comes in, someone responds, a quote goes out, the work gets delivered, the invoice gets collected, and — in the businesses that grow — somebody learns which of those jobs made money and where it came from. The work usually gets done. It’s the seams between the layers where jobs quietly die.

Three questions, honestly answered, will tell you if this page is for you:

Which of last quarter’s marketing dollars turned into paid work — per dollar, not as a feeling?
If you were away for two weeks, what breaks first?
How many quotes are sitting right now on a follow-up that nobody owns?

If any of those took longer than five seconds, the problem isn’t effort and it isn’t software. Buying software was never the hard part — research across 3,385 software buyers found only 34% would call themselves successful adopters of the tools they already own (Capterra/Gartner Digital Markets, 2025). The hard part is the wiring. That’s what I do.

The Ops Audit — $750

A 90-minute working session where your operations get scored in front of you — not a sales call with a diagnosis attached.

Before the callA short intake (about 15 minutes of your time), due 48 hours ahead. It collects the numbers the audit runs on — enquiries per month, average job value, close rate, what you’ve spent to make the phone ring.
On the callWe walk your business across all six layers on a shared screen, and score each one live. You watch the score build. Nothing lands in the report you didn’t say out loud first.
Within three business daysThe Ops Audit Report — your score out of 18, a map of how work actually moves through your firm, the three biggest leaks in your own words, and the leak math: what each one plausibly costs you per month, in dollars, from your numbers. It also names what’s already working — and at least one fix you can make yourself, that week, for free.
The honest termsPaid upfront. Credited in full against an install within 30 days, so if we build together the audit costs you nothing. And if your operations score high, the report says so, I tell you there’s nothing here worth paying me to fix, and we’re done — that outcome is a feature of a paid audit, not a risk of one.

If the audit finds a leak worth fixing, I install the fix.

One system of record for every enquiry, quote and job — built from tools you already pay for, wired together so nothing enters your business without being captured, followed up, and traced back to the marketing dollar that produced it. You own every account. I build inside your workspace, hand over a recorded runbook, and remove my own access at handoff.

I’m taking my first three install clients now. Every install starts with the audit — it’s where the scope comes from, and it’s where you’ll see exactly what an install would cost and what it should pay back, next to your own numbers rather than mine.

One promise I won’t make: that a leak disappears. What I build makes every leak visible and most of them recoverable — visibility first, recovery second. Anyone promising more than that is selling you software.

Read this before you book.

I don’t sell software.Nothing gets created in my name, billed to my card, or locked behind my login. Ever.
I don’t do scheduling, dispatch, card payments, call tracking or field apps.If your business runs crews and trucks, tools like Jobber, ServiceM8 or Housecall Pro do that brilliantly for under $60 a month — and I’ll tell you so on the fit call rather than build you an expensive imitation. Where I can help a trades business is the part those tools skip: getting every lead captured and knowing which marketing dollars became jobs.
I don’t do retainers.Fixed scope, capped hours, a handoff date, and a runbook so you’re not dependent on me. If that sounds like the opposite of how this industry usually works — that’s the point.
This isn’t for you ifYou’re a solo freelancer (you don’t need an ops install yet — you need pricing sorted first), you run e-commerce, or you have a CRM humming along with someone who owns it. If you have a CRM nobody uses, though — that’s not a disqualifier, that’s the most common starting point there is.

Who’s behind this

I’m Luke. I built a licensed financial practice in Canada from zero — solo, no team — and ran every layer of it myself: compliance files, client pipeline, quoting, collections, the lot. In 2026 I sold it. The practice worked; the licence chained it to a postal code, so I sold the business I’d built to build one I can run from anywhere.

That decade is the qualification that matters here: selling complex, intangible things to people who start out sceptical, and running the operations behind it well enough that a regulator could walk in on any given Tuesday. I’ve lived inside the ops I’m auditing.

Questions worth asking

Why is the audit paid?

Because a free audit is a sales pitch wearing a costume. Paying for the diagnosis means I get paid to find the truth — including “there’s nothing here worth fixing” — instead of getting paid only if I find you a problem. It’s also credited in full against an install, so the only scenario where you’ve spent $750 is the one where I told you not to spend more.

Am I committed to anything after?

No. The report is yours, written to be forwarded — to a partner, or to whoever you hire instead of me.

What software will you make me buy?

Possibly none. Free tiers first, upgrades only on evidence, a hard $100/month ceiling on new spend, and I aim to cancel something old for anything new. Whatever the number is, you see it before any proposal — never after.

We already have a CRM. Nobody uses it.

Then you’re the exact person this was built for. The audit tells us whether to revive what you own or replace it — reviving is cheaper and more common.

What about after the install?

You get a recorded runbook that answers “how do I…” at 9pm without me. There’s an optional quarterly tune-up, and a 14-day warranty on everything I build: if it doesn’t work as specced, fixing it is my problem, free. What I don’t offer is an ongoing retainer — by design, you won’t need one.

So — how much work is in your pipeline right now?
